  1. 1) In NW Bulgaria the dance Gankino (or Kopanitsa) in 11/16 (2+2+3+2+2) is also referred to a Shareno Horo.

    2) I believe the video of people from Plovdiv dancing Gankino, 11/16 (2+2+3+2+2), are not representative of folks dancing as part of a living tradition. Rather, I believe they are Bulgarian Recreational Club dancers that gather to dance every Sunday afternoon in the central square and the the purpose of the gathering is to dance (not a wedding, national holiday, religious holiday, not a social club).

    3) I’ve never heard of a dance called Gankino rhythmically written in 9/16 (2+2+2+3) – but I haven’t heard everything.
