Three closely-related songs from N. Macedonia, and Pirin and Rhodope, Bulgaria, All start with the words Dujni mi, “blow (wind)”: 1. Dujni mi, duni, bel vetre; 2. Dujni mi venis, bel vetre, & 3. Drama is a village in Bulgaria (upper right) and a city in Greece (lower left). Greek Drama has been an important centre since ancient Greek times, and continued to be important under the Ottomans, who ruled all the Balkans. In 1912 the Bulgarians captured this Drama from the Ottomans. A 1913 treaty gave it to the Greeks, who promptly expelled most Slavic-speaking residents to Bulgaria. It is therefore likely that the Drama referred to in the song is the Drama now in Greece.
