Please note: Hora Mare is the name of the most common Romanian dance – often seen as the lead-off dance at a wedding after-party. To my knowledge there is no standard music for this first dance – it’s whatever the band deems popular or snappy enough to get people up dancing. I picked this music, by Romanian Roma band, Taraf de Haidouks and singer Viorica Rudareasca not because I’ve seen it at weddings, but because it’s an excellent recording of music similar in tempo, energy, and perkiness to what I have seen (on YouTubes) at Romanian weddings.
